Consultation for Intended parents of Donated Gametes
Building your family with sperm or egg donation
Embarking on a path that includes donor conception, through sperm or egg, can bring a complex mix of emotions.
Hope, grief, relief, and uncertainty. Whether you are:
A single mother by choice
Part of the LGBTQIA+ community
Or a heterosexual couple navigating the many decisions surrounding third-party reproduction, you don’t have to walk this journey alone.
These sessions are designed to provide space for reflection, emotional support, and make decisions about moving forward with your family building.
Together, we’ll clarify your intentions and strengthen the foundation for a healthy, child-centered family beginning.
What to Expect
Intended Parent Psychoeducational Consultations meet the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidelines for pre-treatment requirement when using donated gametes. These meetings explore the psychological, ethical, and relational aspects of working with sperm of/and egg donors, helping you move forward with both confidence and clarity.
In our work together, we’ll discuss topics such as:
How you and your partner (if applicable) have come to this decision
Understanding the emotional and genetic layers of donor conception
Exploring feelings about attachment, identity, and family formation
Considerations in choosing a donor
Differences in sperm and egg bank practices
Planning for future disclosure conversations with your child
Navigating contact or communication with known donors or donor siblings
Clarifying expectations, roles, and boundaries in donor or recipient relationships
Each consultation is individualized to your situation and provides documentation of completion for your fertility clinic.
Every family journey is unique, and so is every emotional landscape that comes with it.
Some clients come to this process after years of fertility treatments, disappointments, or difficult decisions. Others arrive by choice from the very beginning, drawn to the beauty and possibility of donor conception.
Each path brings its own set of questions, emotions, and hopes. It can feel both exciting and tender, full of dreams for the child you will welcome, and perhaps grief for the path you imagined before this one.
Wherever you find yourself, your path is deeply personal and deserves to be met with care and understanding.
My goal is to create a space that is inclusive, non-judgmental, and grounded in compassion, where your story is met with warmth, respect, and genuine curiosity.
In our work together, we’ll explore not only the logistics of your next steps but also the emotional and relational dimensions of this journey: how to hold hope and uncertainty side by side, how to strengthen your partnerships and support networks, and how to move toward parenthood feeling centered and empowered.
I have extensive experience supporting individuals and couples navigating fertility challenges, third-party reproduction, and evolving family structures. You can expect a collaborative process that honors your values, your pace, and your definition of family.
The consultation process is more than a formality, it’s a meaningful pause in the midst of planning, a chance to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re heading.
While these sessions do fulfill clinic and ASRM requirements, they also invite space for deeper emotional readiness. Together, we’ll explore both the practical aspects of the donor process and the personal layers; the grief, hope, identity, and connection that accompany this path to parenthood.
Many clients leave the consultation feeling lighter and more grounded, with a renewed sense of clarity and confidence in their decisions. It’s a time to slow down, make sense of the emotional journey, and feel assured that you’re moving forward from a place of intention and strength.
If you’re considering donor conception, or your fertility clinic has referred you for an ASRM-required consultation, I welcome you to reach out.
Together, we can ensure this next step is taken with openness, integrity, and support.
You deserve peace, clarity, and hope in your family building journey.
